Tanker spills syrup all over I-44 causing slick roadway across city
OKLAHOMA CITY —
6:50 a.m. Update: ODOT crews have closed the outside southbound lane of I-44 from NW 36th to SW 89th while they clean up syrup spilled on the roadway.
The lane is expected to be closed through the morning while crews spread sand on the syrup and then clean up the sand. Motorists should expect delays.
OHP officials say the Braum's tanker filled with syrup was heading to Tuttle when it started leaking.
Police officers first reported the slick conditions around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. They first thought it was oil, but discovered it was syrup when their shoes became sticky.
No injuries have been reported.
