Spring in Oklahoma: storms develop in western Oklahoma, moving east
By Kyle Roberts
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for western Oklahoma until 11PM Wednesday. As of now, no part of this watch covers any part of the Metro. A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions for severe thunderstorms are possible, and we've already seen a few storms in western Oklahoma this evening.Storms have developed in western Oklahoma, and are moving slowly eastward. Main threats with any storm will be damaging winds and large hail (tennis ball size or larger). Although a tornado cannot be ruled out, the tornado threat is low.Scattered strong to severe storms will continue moving east, moving through western Oklahoma through the rest of the evening. If the storms hold together, they would impact the Metro by late this evening (around 9-11PM). Some storms at that time could still be strong with large hail and damaging winds possible. Storms for the OKC Metro are not guaranteed as they could fall apart before they get here, but staying weather aware is always advised. For Thursday, no storms but we'll be slightly cooler, making for a very pleasant day. However, by this weekend, a more significant severe weather is possible with severe storms possible both days of the weekend. If you have plans this weekend, especially outdoor ones, please pay attention to the latest forecast and information through the rest of the week.
