Shawnee police find missing woman's body; searching for suspects

The Shawnee Police Department says Aleesha Martin, after seeing news reports, has contacted officers and been interview.

Shawnee police are searching for a couple after a woman's body was recovered from the Canadian River late Friday.

According to the Shawnee Police Department, the body of a woman in her 20s was found in the Canadian River near the 900 block of S. Beard St. late Friday. The woman was first reported missing Friday morning but police believe her body has been in the river for four to five days. The woman's family says she was last heard from Tuesday and had plans to hang out with friends at the river. Police are searching for 32-year-old Aleesha Martin and 29-year-old Robert Martin in connection with the case. The couple is believed to have left the area in a red extended cab pickup truck with a Citizen Pottawatomie Nation tag number 1D726. Police say the two are not suspects just persons-of-interest in the case. Anyone with information on the Martin's location is asked to call the Shawnee Police Department at 405-273-212.
