Share a Coke? How about sharing some incredible news!
By now, you've seen the #ShareaCoke campaign. The soft drink company is putting names on bottles but it's not just names like Amanda, John, or Michael. Patrick and Whitney McGillicuddy used the campaign to announce a new addition to their family. The 1:35 video posted to YouTube has exploded in popularity, especially after Huffington Post wrote about it. The two made their video while sitting outside and taking turns drinking differently-named Cokes. As they sipped from each one, their voices changed to Steve Carell's, Morgan Freeman's, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Each voice reflected the name on the can. They trade voices until they get to the end of the cans when they get their voices back. They turn them around to reveal to the camera that the last cans say "Mom" and "Dad", revealing that a little McGillicuddy is on the wayThe future father explained to The Huffington Post how they decided to do it this way:"After our first ultrasound I grabbed a Diet Coke on my way to work. Looking at it, I saw that the can read, "Dad." Not knowing how popular that can was at the time, I thought, "What are the chances!"... I took a photo and sent it to my wife ... and the rest is history! While they've yet to receive a lifetime supply of Coke, they did get a congratulatory tweet and were featured on their website. "Sadly, they have not sent us free Coke for life or commented on how GORGEOUS my wife is yet. Your move Coke!" he said.
