EDMOND — After being in the planning stages for years it's finally U.S. Senior Open week at Oak Tree National in Edmond. The Senior Open festivities began Monday with practice rounds that continue until the first round begins Thursday. The field has 156 golfers who carry big names to match big games but one of the storylines will be the local guys, who know the course at Oak Tree National well. Scott Verplank, Bob Tway, Gil Morgan, Willie Wood are among the Oak Tree boys, who call Oak Tree their home course which should give them a leg up in understanding playing in the conditions of Oklahoma."I think I'm ready," said Morgan. "I had a couple of weeks by myself to look at the course and play quite a bit. More than I would normally play when I'm at home."Golf is an individual sport but this week the Oak Tree gang will be watching how each other plays."Hopefully one or all of us will play well and have a chance to win, Even if it doesn't happen we're kind of showing off how good this place (Oak Tree) is," said Verplank.
