Shots fired report at University of Oklahoma a 'false alarm'
University of Oklahoma told students to shelter in place after a reported shooting on campus but the University says the report may have been a false alarm.
According to the University of Oklahoma, a shooting was reported at Gould Hall on campus. Students were urged to shelter in place.
Norman Police says OUPD requested their assistance to investigate the shooting around 11:15 AM Wednesday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Cleveland County Sheriff Deputies are also on scene investigating.
At 12:05, the University issued a series of tweets that said 'no evidence has been found of any shots being fired' and 'there are no injuries reported. OU also said normal campus operations have resumed except at Gould Hall where additional checking is being done.
OU police and the University President David Boren said they found no evidence of a shooting and believe the report was made after a faculty member heard noises that may have sounded like gunshots.
