Priest stops wedding over videographers
(CNN) - Talk about awkward. Cameras captured the moment when a priest stopped a wedding to tell the photographer to back off.
It was the beginning to a beautiful wedding. Rob and Noelle were in the middle of their vows when suddenly, "sir, would you please leave," the priest told the videographer.
"Where do you want me to be," the videographer asked. The priest then told him he could be anywhere other than on the altar.
But it didn't end there.
"This is a solemn assembly. This is not a photography session. Please move or I will stop," the priest said. "I will stop the ceremony if you do not get out of the way."
"You want me to leave," the videographer said.
The expressions on their faces said it all.
"I really wasn't upset. I was just really more appalled and kind of shocked," bride Noelle Ruehle said.
"I think my biggest fear was that we'd have to step in and say something," groom Rob Ruehle said.
The photographers moved and the ceremony continued.
"We had a lot of reactions afterwards and it kind of made for laughter but it kind of was the damper on the day also," Noelle said.
Noelle's brother posted the awkward moment online. The newlyweds left on their honeymoon and woke up internet sensations, garnering over 250,000 views
"If nothing else we can look back and say, 'hey we had a one of a kind wedding', even though it may not be the way we thought it would go," Rob said.
At least they can laugh about it now.
"The first thing everyone said, 'hey how about that priest, he was great huh,' it just turned out to make a really funny video which we hope everyone enjoys just as much as we do," Rob said.
It's certainly a moment Rob and Noelle will never forget.
CNN reached out to the priest and church for a statement regarding the video, but did not get a response.
