Powerful video reenacts the dangers of children left in a car

On July 3rd, a production company posted a reenactment of how easily children can be forgotten about in a car.

The video has over 300,000 views and is a reenactment of a mother talking on the phone, heading into the store, and forgetting her child is in the backseat.

Throughout the video, we see several people who notice the child strapped into the car seat and we also see their reactions.

It can take as little as 15 minutes in an overheated car for a child to suffer life-threatening brain or kidney injuries.

According to the San Francisco State University Department of Geosciences, 15 children have died from vehicular heatstroke in the United States and every 10 days a child dies. Since 1998, there have been 575 deaths from heatstroke, 73% of which were children under the age of 2.
