Police: men chased through apartments, chokes officer

Gus Tate, accused of choking officer

Police have two men in custody accused of running from the police, one of which also accused of choking an officer.

Oklahoma City Police were called to a report of trespassing at Emerald Court Apartments on NW 23rd Street around 7:30 Monday night. Police say multiple people were inside a vacant apartment when they arrived on scene.

One man ran from the apartment but police caught up to him, later identified as 26-year-old Gus Arron Tate, and took him to the ground. Somehow, Tate got the upper hand and began choking the officer. The police officer believes Tate was trying to break his neck. The officer eventually lost consciousness and the suspect escaped. He was later caught by other officers on scene.

Police also arrested Dillion George, 21, on a complaint of public drunkenness. Both George and Tate were booked into the Oklahoma County Jail and face several charges including trespassing, resisting an officer, and aggravated assault and battery on a police officer.

The officer choked was not seriously injured, but he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
