Oklahoma City Police identify man who died in police custody Monday

Oklahoma City police have identified a man who died in custody earlier this week.

Police say 45-year-old Randall Roy Haynes died while in police custody around 9:45 p.m. Oct. 21

Officers were dispatched at 9:45 p.m. to the area of SE 32nd St. and S. Byers Ave. in reference to a suspect attempting to break into cars and homes.

When officers arrived they observed that several citizens had Haynes detained.

Officers called for EMSA suspecting that Hayne's condition might make a turn for the worse based on past experiences though the suspect had no visible injuries.

Police observed Haynes stop breathing prior to EMSA's arrival. The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:54 p.m.

Haynes was found to have outstanding felony warrants and the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen.
