Oklahoma City Police begin patrols under new boundaries

OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City Police start their new patrol boundaries on Tuesday, June 3.The reason they are redrawing their city patrol boundaries? Police say it's because of a new police station near SW 54th and S Portland. The Santa Fe Division, which covers much of the south side of the city, was just too big, according to police. With the new boundaries, the Santa Fe Division will be divided into two individual South Oklahoma City divisions. Police hope these new boundary lines will even out police patrols, and ultimately lead to quicker response times. Crime or manpower, police note, is not the reason for the change, they just want to be able to use their patrols in a more effective way.
