Norman Public Schools announced Friday it will make up for three snow days by holding classes on federal holidays and extending its days.
The district took three school days: Friday, Dec. 6; Monday, Dec. 9 and Tuesday, Dec. 10. While it gave students and teachers a 5-day stretch with no classes, they'll be saying goodbye to three day weekends in January and February.
On Friday, the district said it will make up school on Monday, Jan. 20 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) and Monday, Feb. 17 (President's Day). The district says these two days are the first of four snow days built into the calendar.
But it's not just additional days. The district will add minutes to each school day to accrue throughout the year in accordance with state law.
The district canceled school earlier this week and the end of last week due to snow and icy roads.
