Norman emergency crews respond to near drowning - one person transported to hospital

LAKE THUNDERBIRD — Update #2A report from OHP states the victim was a 17-year-old Yukon boy who was in about six feet of water swimming toward a boat that was adrift. When he was about 50 feet from the shore the went under the surface.At last report the youth, whose name is being withheld, was admitted to an area hospital with internal trunk injuries and was listed in critical condition.Update:A spokesperson for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a distress call was received about 5:45 p.m. Sunday evening.The person reporting pulled an adult male from the water. They applied CPR before emergency personnel were on the scene.Emergency crews transported the victim to an area hospital in unknown condition. There is a possible drowning at Lake Thunderbird. Norman emergency personnel are on the scene in the Turkey Creek Pass area of the lake. Initial reports say a person went under the water. At this time it is believed the person has been recovered, their condition is unknown.No other information is available at this time. Fox 25 News has a crew on the way to the scene and will have updates when they become available.
