Murder charges filed for Independence Day double homicide
The Oklahoma District Attorney has officially filed two murder charges against the man accused of shooting and killing two men in Arcadia on Independence Day.
Garret Harjo was charged with two counts of first degree murder for the deaths of 39-year-old Diallo Scott and 34-year-old Donald Scott. The two men were visiting family on the Fourth of July when they were gunned down.
The shooting is believed to have been gang related. The Oklahoma County Sheriff said the Scott brothers were known gang members and they believe Harjo belonged to a rival gang. A witness told investigators she heard Harjo arguing with the victims in the street about gang affiliation before hearing gunshots. When she looked outside, she saw both men lying dead in the street and said Harjo and his vehicle had left the area.
Six days later, Harjo turned himself in to the OKlahoma COunty Sheriff.
