Mother turns body into speed bump to save her twins

A 22-year-old Massachusetts mom is now bound to a wheelchair and unable to walk, with her left knee crushed and right leg dislocated from her hip, after using her own body to stop a rolling car to save her twin toddlers.

"I had to use myself as a speed bump to slow the car down enough for one of my neighbors to get in and completely stop the car," Mindy Tran said.

On March 6, after backing into her Lawrence, MA garage, Mindy put her Honda in park and had her 2-year-old twin toddlers strapped in the backseat. When she got out to lock the front door she saw the car moving. Afraid it would go down a steep driveway and into the busy street, her motherly instincts kicked in.

"My daughters are my everything," Mindy said. "I knew at that time it was either my [life] or theirs."

Firefighters had to lift the car off of Mindy. There's now a long recovery ahead for the young mother. With her next surgery scheduled for Wednesday, Mindy vows she'll walk again.
