Man charged with sexually abusing Kenyan children set to enter plea

An Oklahoma man accused of sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya will enter a plea on Friday.

19-year-old Matthew Durham is scheduled to be arraigned at 3 p.m.

The Edmond man is facing federal charges that accuse him of sex acts with children while on missionary at a Kenyan orphanage.

A grand jury indicted Durham on three felony counts that accuse him of traveling from Oklahoma City to Kenya so that he could sexually abuse children.

Prosecutors say Durham engaged in sex acts with as many as 10 children, aged four to 10, while volunteering in Kenya.

Durham faces up to life in prison if convicted. As of Friday morning, Durham was still in custody.

A federal judge has ordered Durham to stay in custody until his trial.
