Girls Scouts of the USA has more than 2 million members nationwide and now the organization is putting out a call to action for more volunteers. Girl Scouts CEO Anna Marie Chavez put out the call for more volunteers because of the more than 30,000 girls across the country waiting to join a troop. Chavez says young girls across the United States and abroad are waiting long periods of time because the organization needs more people to devote their time.
In Oklahoma City, the organization says they need between 500 and 800 volunteers. The organization says that girls don't go on a waiting list, instead they try to immediately match the girls with a troop leader.
