I-40 WB lanes closed after a semi-truck caught on fire
OKLAHOMA CITY — Bat. Fire Chief Kelley says the westbound lanes of I-40 between Amarillo Junction and Meridian will be shut down for several hours after a truck caught on fire. Firefighters say they were called out to the accident at around 2:10 a.m. The semi driver is okay. He was checked out by EMSA, but did not need to go to the hospital. Crews say the semi was carrying household appliances like TVs. There are no hydrants, so crews had to bring their tanker for water. No other cars were involved in the accident. Bat. Fire Chief Kelley says the cause of the fire and accident is under investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternate route if possible.Use Northwest 10th between I-44 & Meridian for alternate route.
