"You get down for the weekend and it's going to be the best time you'll have here at OU and it's basically a holiday," OU sophomore Cameron Colan said.

Colan and his friends plan to make the trip to Dallas on Wednesday. Most fans will hit the road a couple of days later.

"Normally, our experience has been that Friday is when people leave to go for the game, because it is an early game on Saturday," ODOT spokesperson Terri Angier said.

ODOT says drivers need to give themselves more time because of the all of the added traffic heading south this weekend, but Angier says there shouldn't be any major impacts on your travel. ODOT plans projects around the Red River Rivalry.

"We've asked all of our contractors and they've been really good to work with and cooperated and we don't anticipate any road closures on I-35 between here at the Texas border," she said.

There is a construction project underway at Ardmore, but ODOT said work there will stop on Thursday night.

Once you get to Dallas, expect a crowd. The game is sold-out. OU says the game has been played in front of a packed crowd every year since1941.

OU is considered the visiting team this year and will wear white jerseys. This year the uniform is all new, featuring gold accents. The new look is driving demand at the OU Bookstore.

"The jersey actually has been the most popular item," bookstore director Tina Weiden said. "The gold stitching and the gold logo has been just something really unique so people are really excited to kind of have a piece of something brand new for this year's game."

Weiden said the days leading up to the OU-Texas game are always busy since fans want to get something new to wear to the game.

In addition to the special jerseys this year, the bookstore also has Red River Rivalry a dry fit shirt, cap, and hoodie. But the supplies in Norman are limited. The bookstore takes most of that inventory to the Cotton Bowl. You can buy the gear Friday and Saturday outside of Gate A.
