Garfield Co. sheriff's vehicle destroyed in fire
ENID — Update:The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is reporting an arrest has been made in the arson of one of their patrol vehicles.Late Saturday night the sheriff's office was contacted by a juvenile and their parent. The juvenile confessed to the arson and was arrested.
The juvenile was placed in a detention center by order of the court . The juvenile has not been identified.
The Garfield County Sheriff's Office and the Enid Fire Department are investigating a fire that destroyed a sheriff's department vehicle.The fire was reported at 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning. According to a fire department spokesperson on arrival firefighters discovered the vehicle fully involved in fire. The car was parked near a van that was also damaged in the fire. The cause of the fire is pending a report from arson investigators.Sheriff Jerry Niles says a neighbor reported the fire after investigating an outside noise and discovering flames coming from the vehicle.There were two separate areas of origin to the fire, according to Niles. One area was located on the hood and a second area was found on the trunk. There was also a hole discovered in the driver's side window.Investigators are trying to confirm a report of someone being seen leaving the area of the vehicle at the time of the fire.The Garfield County Sheriff's Office is asking any one with information about the fire to contact their office at 580-237-0244 or call the Enid Fire Department.
