Friday's Furry Friend: Rambunctious Roxy

It's summer. The kids are home and they've got energy. And lots of it. Luckily, there's a dog waiting at OKC Animal Welfare with matching energy.Roxy is a bouncy, rambunctious, and downright spunky cattle dog mix. The 7 or 8 month old dog still has some growing up to do but she loves to run and loves to play ball.David Waggoner from OKC Animal Welfare said she was dropped at the shelter overnight and the owner was contacted but never returned. Now, she's spayed, vaccinated and ready for her forever home.If you adopt Roxy, you'll get a $25 gift card to Pet Vet Supply to make sure you're stocked up for your new addition. Call the Oklahoma City Animal Welfare at 297-3100.Even if you don't take Roxy home, there are plenty of dogs and cats waiting for you at PetSmart this weekend. OKC Animal Welfare and seven other organizations will be at the store at NW 63rd and May. Dogs and cats will be available for adoption during the Homerun Adoption Event from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM Friday-Sunday. Don't forget, the scariest time of the year for dogs is almost here. The Fourth of July can frighten even well-trained dogs into breaking out a fence. Waggoner has some simple advice: keep their tags on them, keep them inside, and keep them near you.
