The first cases of influenza this season have been confirmed in Oklahoma County. The Oklahoma State Department of Health says two children under the age of 5 tested positive for the flu, with one of the cases in Oklahoma County and the other in Tulsa County. Oklahoma State Department of Health Epidemiologist Laurence Burnsed says the Oklahoma flu season typically starts in October and runs through April. "What's important to know is that influenza can cause illness in persons of all ages, but there is some people that can be affected more severely than others," Burnsed said.
