The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says final repairs have been completed to the James C. Nance Memorial Bridge connecting Purcell and Lexington. The bridge, which was re-opened in June but limited to 15 ton loads, is now open to vehicles up to 36 tons. The new limit will allow fully loaded school buses to cross the bridge, among other vehicles. ODOT will no longer require 24/7 surveillance of the bridge, but the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will continue to monitor and enforce truck size and weight regulations. Daily inspection of the bridge will continue for a time as ODOT monitors the performance of the repairs.
