Edmond homeowner shoots intruder

UPDATE - Edmond police say a homeowner shot and killed an intruder early Saturday morning.

Marlow Dewayne Wilson, Jr., 20, broke into a home in the 1900 block of Cobblestone Ct. about 3:40 a.m., according to police.

"One of the first things [the homeowner] did was call 911. That allows us to get here quickly," Edmond Police spokesperson Jenny Monroe said. "One person in the home was checking what was going on and the other person was on the phone with 911."

One homeowner shot Wilson. Monroe said Wilson was dead by the time EMSA arrived.

"We're just trying really to piece it together at this point, why this house and why here? Was it completely random or was there a reason behind it?" Monroe said.

Once the investigation is completed, the case will be turned over to the district attorney. he will decide if the shooting was justified and whether to press charges.
