Canadian Co. Sheriff's deputies find 100 pounds of pot during traffic stop
Canadian County Sheriff's deputies seized 100 pounds of high quality marijuana after a traffic stop Friday on Interstate 40.
The Canadian County Sheriff's Office reports the deputies stopped a semi just after 1 p.m. after it swerved on and off the road in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near mile marker 123.
The semi, a 2014 Peterbilt car-hauler, was driving from California to various locations around the country to deliver its load of vehicles.
After speaking with the driver, deputies became suspicious about one of the vehicles on the load, a 1988 Chevy S10 Blazer. The deputies gained consent to search the vehicle from the driver and discovered 50 individual packages of "Hydro" marijuana.
Authorities say the 50 packages had a combine weight of 100 pounds and an estimated street value of $500,000.
The packages were hidden in compartments scattered about the interior of the vehicle.
The deputies determined the driver was unaware of the hidden load and released him.
