Abandoned dog helps disabled boy overcome fear of outside world

The story of the boy is enough to tug at your heartstrings. But the story of him and his best friend will have you reaching for tissues.

Owen Howkins, 7, has Schwartz-Jampel syndrome, a condition that leaves all of his muscles in a permanent state of tension. Hattchi, his adopted dog, has three legs after he survived being hit by a train after he was left abandoned and tied up to the railroad. Both are leaning on each other.

The video tells the story of how Haatchi helped Owen to not be afraid of strangers: they're more interested in a three-legged dog than a boy with an unknown condition.

The video has 700,000 views just five days after being posted and was made to raise awareness about the very rare condition.
