3-year-old rescues elderly man from hot car in Tennessee
A fast-acting three-year-old is being credited with saving a Tennessee man stuck inside a sweltering car last weekend.Bob King admits he's had problems with the locking switch on the car, but on Saturday, he got locked inside the car in the parking lot of his church. Lucky for him, a quick-thinking toddler saved the day.Temperatures were on the rise and inside Bob King's car, the heat was building quickly. He was trapped Saturday afternoon when 3-year-old Keith Williams happened to walk by."I hollered at him and he just looked at me kind of funny and I said 'Yeah I'm locked in here,'" King said. He's battled cancer, suffered from strokes, and wears a pacemaker. He says he was inside the car for about five minutes when he started getting nervous."Well, yeah, it was kind of hot. That was the only thing that was bothering me, being hot. I knew that sooner or later I'd have somebody to come out so they could unlock it for me," King said.Luckily for him, 3-year-old Keith knew exactly what to do. He went to his pastor, Jack Greene, and led him outside to King."And he kept pulling at my hand and eventually I turned around and looked at him. I said 'what's going on?' He said 'locked. locked!'" Greene said.Keith knew something wasn't right."He was hot. He was locked in the car," Keith said.Keith's mom, Jessie, said she's proud of her young son."I am very impressed and I'm proud that he would know what to do," Jessie said.Maybe it was the superhero shirt and his Ninja Turtle shoes that gave him special powers that day. Whatever it was, King is just thankful he was there."I'm very thankful because, you know, I don't know how long it'd been. I'd say probably another 20 minutes sitting in there if he hadn't notified somebody.""I saved his life," Keith said.
