2 fatal accidents on Christmas Eve in Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) says two people died in traffic accidents on Oklahoma roads Christmas Eve.

The first occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on U. S. Highway 283 a mile and a half east of Mangum. Luther Wynn, 67, of Mangum died when his pick up truck departed the highway for and unknown reason. The truck came back on to the road only to leave again, hit a fence, rolled one complete time and came to rest on its wheels in a field.

The second accident happened about 8:45 p.m. about 2 miles south east of Blackwell in Kay County. Katherine Fairchild, 48, of Blackwell was driving a Chevrolet Blazer on a county road when an icy bridge caused her to lose control of the vehicle and overturning one and a half times. Fairchild expired at the scene and a 16 year old female passenger was transported to a medical center in Wichita, KS.

A 13 year old boy who also was a passenger was not injured.
