10 things more popular than Congress: cockroaches, hemorrhoids make the cut
Bad news for 535 men and women in Washington DC: they're less popular than hemorrhoids and toenail fungus.
A new poll released Tuesday by Public Policy Polling says the United State Congress is viewed less favorably than both of those things, along with eight others.
The government shutdown and battle over the debt ceiling are taking a toll on the public image of the legislative body.
The poll of 502 registered voters was released Tuesday by Public Policy Polling.
Congress had a dismal 8 percent approval rating.
"Congress having an 8% approval rating tells us one thing about how unhappy voters are," said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. "But it's even more telling that voters have a lower opinion of it than annoyances like the DMV and jury duty, health issues like hemorrhoids, and even witches."
